Business Leaders Defend Universities as Critical to U.S. Competitiveness
275+ Business Leaders Call on Congress and the Administration to Reverse Course on University Funding Cuts
On June 18, Leadership Now Project released an open letter signed by more than 200 business leaders across 34 states, urging Congress and the administration to reverse harmful federal actions targeting U.S. universities, including cuts to research funding, visa restrictions, and endowment penalties.
These policies threaten the research institutions that fuel America’s competitive edge–our ability to invent, attract talent, and turn ideas into industries.
The Wall Street Journal broke the story, calling it “one of the first coordinated public efforts from the business community to push back on some of the Trump administration’s moves.”
This builds on an amicus brief Leadership Now filed in Harvard’s federal lawsuit challenging the administration's funding freeze.
